How the Zone Technique Works at Titan Chiropractic in Petaluma
You are lying on the table, or maybe your little one is. Dr. Reilly rests his fingers on six small points on the head. Then he checks the spine and makes a few gentle, specific adjustments. The whole visit is calm and quick. And if you are like most parents here in Petaluma, you have quietly wondered: what exactly is he doing?
This post is your answer. It is a plain-English tour of the Zone Technique, the method behind every adjustment at Titan Chiropractic. Every term gets a definition. By the end, you will know exactly what happens on the table and why.
Your Brain Runs Six Big Systems
Start with one simple idea: the brain runs the whole body. Every organ, gland, and muscle takes its orders from the brain through the nerves. Think of the brain like the breaker box in your house. Every light and every outlet traces back to that one panel.
The Zone Technique builds on that idea. It organizes the body into six systems, called zones. The method dates back to 1931, when a chiropractor named Dr. Thurman Fleet mapped out these six zones and the brain centers that control them. It has been refined and modernized since by Dr. Peter Goldman. Dr. Reilly uses it with every practice member, from newborns to grandparents.
The Six Zones in Plain English
Zone 1 is the glandular zone. Glands are the small organs that make your hormones, so this zone touches energy, growth, and mood. Zone 2 is the eliminative zone, the body’s clean-up crew: kidneys, lungs, colon, and skin. Zone 3 is the nervous zone, the brain and nerves themselves, which shape sleep, focus, and calm. Zone 4 is the digestive zone: stomach, intestines, and liver, everything that turns food into fuel. Zone 5 is the muscular zone, the muscles and posture that hold you up and move you around. Zone 6 is the circulatory zone: the heart and blood vessels that deliver oxygen to every cell.
Six zones. One brain running them all. When the brain and body are connected clearly, all six hum along together, like traffic flowing smoothly on Highway 101.
The Head Check: Why We Start at the Head
Each zone has a control center in the brain. Each control center connects to a specific point on the head. During your visit, Dr. Reilly gently touches those six points. A point that is tender or tight is a signal: the zone it belongs to is carrying stress.
That is the head check. It is quick, it is gentle, and kids usually think it is funny. It works like a technician reading the breaker panel to see which circuit tripped, instead of guessing which switch to flip.
We Don’t Guess. We Test, Adjust, and Retest.
The head check never works alone at Titan. We pair it with our INSIGHT scans, a set of gentle neurological scans that take the guesswork out of care. The neuroTHERMAL scan reads the heat pattern along the spine, which is run by the automatic nerves that control your organs and glands. The neuroCORE scan measures the electrical activity along the spine, showing where nerve energy is working too hard or too little. The neuroPULSE scan reads the rhythm of the heartbeat, showing whether the body is stuck on the gas pedal or able to reach the brake. The three scans combine into one easy number from 0 to 100 called the CORESCORE.
The scans show us where the stress lives before we ever adjust. Then we re-scan later in care to make sure things are changing. That is what we mean when we say we test, adjust, and retest.
The Adjustment: Gentle, Specific, and Quick
Here is where it all comes together. Each zone connects to a small set of specific points along the spine. Once the head check and the scans point to the zone carrying stress, Dr. Reilly adjusts only those points. Nothing random. Nothing rough.
For babies and kids, the pressure is about what you would use to check a ripe tomato. Most little ones stay happily in a parent’s arms or play with a toy on the table. After the adjustment, you get a Zone Slip, a small card that tells you which zone was balanced that day so you can follow along with your own care.
The goal of every adjustment is the same: clear the stress patterns so the brain and body can talk clearly again. Your body is designed to work at 100 percent. When that connection is clear, the body does the healing on its own. Strong. Clear. Unshakable.
