A Petaluma Chiropractor Answers the Top Questions We Hear at Local Health Talks

A few times a month I stand in front of a room full of people here in Petaluma and talk about the nervous system. Sometimes the room is a gym. Sometimes it is a pilates studio, a break room, or a folding table with a coffee urn on it. The rooms change. The questions almost never do. I am a chiropractor in Petaluma, and this is the part of my week I look forward to most.

So I wrote the questions down.

These are the ones we hear most at local health talks around Petaluma, Penngrove, Cotati, and Rohnert Park, answered the same way I would answer them if you walked up to me after the talk. No jargon. Just what I actually say.

“So what does a chiropractor actually do?”

Your brain and your body talk to each other all day long. That conversation runs down your spinal cord and out through your nerves. Every heartbeat, every deep breath, every time your stomach digests lunch, that is your nervous system doing its job without being asked.

Think about the breaker box in your house. When too much load runs through one circuit, the breaker trips. Nothing is broken. The power just is not getting through the way it should.

A body works the same way. Stress adds up. A fall off the monkey bars. A long season of short sleep. A hard week that turned into a hard year. When the load climbs high enough, the nervous system starts running in a protective pattern, and function slips.

Symptoms are signals. They are the check engine light, not the engine.

An adjustment is a gentle, specific input that helps clear that stress pattern so the signal can move cleanly again. We are not adding anything to your body. We are taking interference out of the way so the body can do what it already knows how to do. Your body is designed to work at 100 percent.

“Okay, but how do you know where to adjust?”

This is my favorite question in every room, because the answer is the whole reason people drive across town to see us.

We don’t guess. We test, adjust, and retest.

On your first visit we run INSIGHT scans. They are quiet, they take a few minutes, and nothing pokes, pinches, or shocks you. Kids sit for them just fine. Three scans give us three different views of the same nervous system.

neuroCORE reads the electrical activity, the nerve energy running along your spine. It shows us where energy is stuck on when it should be settling down.

neuroTHERMAL reads the heat pattern down your spine. That heat is controlled by the automatic nerves, the ones running your organs and glands without you ever thinking about it.

neuroPULSE reads the rhythm of your heartbeat. This one is your gas pedal and your brake pedal. It tells us how well you shift between go and rest.

Those three come together into one number between 0 and 100 called a CORESCORE. That is your starting line. Later in care we scan again and compare. If the number is moving, we keep going. If it is not, we change something. That is what makes this a measured process instead of an opinion.

“Does it hurt? And what about my baby?”

Nobody asks this louder than a first-time mom holding a six week old.

Here is the honest picture. Adjusting a baby looks almost boring from across the room. We use about the same pressure you would use to check whether a tomato at the Petaluma farmers market is ripe. That is not a marketing line. That is the actual amount of force.

For adults it is specific and gentle too. We use the Zone Technique, which starts with a quick head check to tell us which of six zones is carrying the load. Then we adjust the specific points that match that zone. The adjustment is the tool here, and that focus is on purpose.

Most kids fall asleep. Most adults tell us the room feels quieter afterward.

Is this you, standing in the back of a health talk wondering whether this is safe for your kid? That is exactly the right question to ask, and it is the easiest one to answer in person. You can schedule a visit and see the room for yourself.

“Do I have to come forever?”

No. And I say that plainly every single time.

Care at Titan starts with a plan that has a finish line. We scan, we build the plan around what the scans show, and we scan again along the way to see whether the plan is doing its job.

What happens after that is a choice. Some people finish their plan and we shake hands. Many families choose to keep a light monthly rhythm instead, the same way you keep changing the oil once the car runs well again. That is what family chiropractic care looks like around here. Parents, kids, sometimes grandparents, all on one simple rhythm.

A redwood does not add a ring in a weekend. It adds one because of what it does every single season. Bodies are the same.

“What can I do at home that does not cost anything?”

I get asked this at every gym talk, and I give the same three answers, because they are free and they help the whole system.

Sleep. Protect it like it is a bill you have to pay. It is the biggest lever most families have and the first one we trade away.

Water. A lot of us are running low by dinner and calling it tiredness.

Walking. Not a workout. A walk. Twenty minutes at Helen Putnam or around your own block feeds your brain steady movement information, and steady movement information is one of the main things a nervous system uses to stay organized.

Three things. Free, simple, and they make everything else we do work better.

“Can you come talk to my gym, studio, or workplace?”

Yes, and this is my favorite part of the job.

We have built real relationships with local businesses like Bodyrok Petaluma and Jake Fulton Fit, and we love standing in front of a group of people who already care about their health and handing them the nervous system piece nobody taught them. We have done these as morning coffee talks, lunch sessions, and short Q and A’s after a class.

If you run a gym, a studio, a preschool, an office, or a mom group anywhere in Petaluma, Penngrove, Cotati, Rohnert Park, or greater Sonoma County, we would love to come. We will bring the coffee.

“The question nobody asks out loud”

There is one people do not say in front of a group, but they do say it quietly at the table afterward. It sounds like this. “I have already tried a lot of things. Is this just going to be one more?”

Here is my answer. We start by looking. The scans either show something or they do not, and either way you walk out knowing more about your own nervous system than you did that morning. That is a fair trade for an hour of your time.

Strong. Clear. Unshakable. That is what we are after, for you and for your kids.

If one of these questions sounded like it came straight out of your own head, reach out and ask it directly. We would rather answer it this week than have you wonder about it for another year.
