What a Regular Adjustment Visit Looks Like at Our Petaluma Chiropractic Office
The first visit gets all the attention. Parents ask wonderful questions about Day 1 and Day 2. Then care actually starts, and a brand new question shows up. What do all the other visits look like?
This post answers that one. It walks through the regular rhythm of care at our Petaluma office, the part families from Penngrove, Cotati, Rohnert Park, and across Sonoma County settle into once a care plan begins. No symptoms here, and no promises. Just what happens, step by step.
Why the Regular Visits Are Where the Work Happens
Your body is designed to work at 100 percent. The nervous system is the brain, the spinal cord, and all the nerves that branch out from it. That system runs everything you never think about. Sleep. Digestion. Focus. Healing.
Symptoms are signals. When the nervous system carries too much stress, function slips, and the body starts sending up flares.
Picture the breaker box in your house. Run too much through one circuit and a breaker trips. The power does not come back because you hope it will. Something has to reset it.
A gentle adjustment helps clear those stress patterns so the body can self-correct. One adjustment starts that process. The visits that follow are what let the change hold. That is why the schedule matters more than any single appointment does.
Step One: You Check In, and It Is Fast
You walk in. You tap your name on the tablet at the front desk. That is it.
There is no paperwork at a regular visit. No forms. No retelling your whole story. We already have it.
Most families are in the door and moving within a minute. Kids usually head straight for the toys without being asked.
Step Two: The Head Check
We use the Zone Technique. That is our method, and you can read the longer explanation of the Zone Technique on our site.
Here is the short version. Dr. Reilly places his hands on specific contact points on the head. Each point connects to one of six zones in the body. A zone is simply a group of things the nervous system controls together, like the glands, or digestion, or circulation.
The head check tells him which zone is out of balance today. Today, not last week. Bodies change between visits, so we look every single time.
It takes about fifteen seconds. Kids think it is a scalp massage. That is fine with us.
Step Three: The Adjustment
Once we know the zone, we adjust the specific spinal contacts that match it.
An adjustment is a light, specific pressure applied to one spot. For an adult it is quick and firm. For a baby it is about the pressure you would use to check a ripe tomato at the Petaluma farmers market. Really. That light.
We do not use machines, heat, traction, or massage. We do not do soft tissue work. We adjust, and we let the nervous system do what it was built to do. That is the whole model, and it is the same model behind all of our family chiropractic care.
Most regular visits take five to ten minutes in the room. Short is not a shortcut. Short is the point. A clear, specific adjustment does not need a long appointment to be a good one.
Step Four: Your Zone Slip
Before you leave, you get a Zone Slip. It is a small card that shows which zone we worked on that day.
Parents keep them. Some families stick them on the fridge. After a few weeks you start to see a pattern in your own hands, which zone keeps showing up and which ones have quieted down.
It is a small thing, and it makes care visible instead of mysterious.
Is This You?
Maybe you have heard about chiropractic for your family and pictured something long, loud, or complicated. It is not. It is a few minutes, a few times a week at first, and it fits around school pickup. If you are curious what that would look like for your own family, you can schedule a visit and we will walk you through it in person.
Where the Scans Come Back In
Regular visits are the rhythm. The scans are the proof.
At set points in your care plan we run our INSIGHT scans again. There are three of them, and each one looks at something different.
neuroCORE reads the electrical activity along the spine, the energy your nervous system is firing off. Too much, or too uneven, means the system is stuck switched on. It is pouring energy into staying tense instead of into growing, sleeping, and learning.
neuroTHERMAL reads the heat pattern down the spine. That pattern is run by the automatic nerves, the ones that quietly control organs and glands without you deciding anything. It shows where those automatic controls are under stress.
neuroPULSE reads the rhythm of the heartbeat, beat to beat. This is the gas pedal and the brake pedal of the body. Gas is go and stress. Brake is rest and calm. This scan shows whether the two are working together or whether one is stuck down.
All three roll into one number from 0 to 100, called the CORESCORE. We line it up against your very first one. We don’t guess. We test, adjust, and retest.
How Often, and for How Long
Your care plan sets the frequency, usually two or three visits a week to start. That number comes from what we found on your first scans, not from a template.
Think of Highway 101 at rush hour. One wreck backs traffic up for miles, and clearing it once does not mean the road stays clear forever. Steady visits keep the lanes moving while the system learns a new normal.
As things settle, visits spread out. Many families then move into a monthly rhythm and keep coming for the same reason they keep their teeth cleaned. Not because something is wrong. Because staying ahead is easier than catching up.
What the Rhythm Feels Like for Families Around Petaluma and the North Bay
Here is the honest answer. Regular visits become ordinary, in the best way.
They stop being an appointment you psych yourself up for and start being a stop you make on the way home. Parents park once and bring two or three kids through in the time it takes to unload the car. Grownups come on a lunch break. Nobody changes clothes.
That is by design. A redwood does not grow tall in one good season. It grows because the conditions stay steady year after year. Care works the same way. Strong. Clear. Unshakable.
