What to Expect After an Adjustment: A Petaluma Parent’s Guide to the First Day or Two

You just walked out to your car in Petaluma. Your child had their first adjustment. You buckle the car seat, sit down behind the wheel, and the question shows up. Now what?

That is one of the most common things we hear from families in Petaluma, Penngrove, Cotati, and across Sonoma County. Not “did it work.” Just “what happens now, and what am I supposed to be watching for?”

This is the plain answer. What the body is doing in the hours after an adjustment, what parents commonly tell us they notice, and how we actually measure whether things are moving.

First, what an adjustment is

An adjustment is a small, specific amount of pressure placed on one spot along the spine.

Picture your house. The brain is the power source. The spinal cord and the nerves are the wiring. Every room in that house, meaning every organ, every muscle, every gland, runs off that wiring.

Stress adds up over time. A breaker trips. The lights in one room go dim. Nothing dramatic. Just dim. An adjustment is the hand that flips that breaker back on.

At Titan we use the Zone Technique. We check six points on the head, find the zone that is out of balance, and adjust the matching spots along the spine. You go home with a Zone Slip so you always know which zone we worked on that day.

For a baby, the pressure is about what you would use to check whether a tomato at the Petaluma farmers market is ripe. It is that light.

The first few minutes after

The nervous system starts taking in new information right away.

Think of Highway 101 at rush hour. The brain and spinal cord are the freeway. Your nerves are the on ramps and the off ramps. When one segment of the spine is not moving and communicating the way it should, it is like a wreck sitting in the middle lane. Traffic backs up for miles behind it.

An adjustment clears the lane. But traffic does not go from stopped to smooth in one second. It eases. Cars start rolling again. That is what the minutes and hours after an adjustment are.

What families tell us they notice that first day

Three things come up again and again.

Some parents say their child sleeps hard that night. A long nap in the car on the way home is a story we hear all the time.

Some say the opposite. Their kid is extra wiggly, extra chatty, bouncing around the living room for an hour before they settle.

And some say nothing at all felt different. The day went like any other day.

All three are normal. Here is the part that matters most: none of them is a scoreboard.

Why the first day is not the scoreboard

A big nap is not proof that something worked. A quiet evening with nothing to report is not proof that nothing did.

The nervous system learns through repetition. One adjustment is one rep.

Think about the Petaluma River. It did not carve its bend in an afternoon. Water moved the same direction, over and over, for a very long time, and the channel changed shape. Your nervous system works the same way. It holds a pattern, and it lets go of that pattern the same way it built it. Gradually. With repetition.

That is why families come in on a plan instead of a single visit, and why we lay the whole rhythm out for you at the start.

What we ask you to protect in the next day or two

Three simple things. Sleep. Water. Easy movement, like a walk around the block or a loop around Lucchesi Park.

None of those are treatments. They are just inputs that lower the load on a nervous system while it settles into something new.

And one more thing, which is the one parents forget. You do not need to test it. There is no need to watch your child all evening waiting for a change, or to plan the day around what might happen. Let the body be. It knows what to do with quiet.

Why we do not judge progress by how a day felt

Here is the frame everything at Titan runs on. Your body is designed to work at one hundred percent. Symptoms are signals. When the nervous system is carrying too much, function slips. Gentle adjustments clear stress patterns, and the body does the healing.

Notice who does the healing in that sentence. Not us. The body. Our job is to take the interference off the wiring and then go check our work.

How you feel is real information, and we always want to hear it. It is just not precise enough on its own. A check engine light tells you to look under the hood. It does not tell you what you will find there.

So we look under the hood.

How we actually measure it

We use CLA INSIGHT scanning technology. Three scans. They are quiet, they take a few minutes, and most kids think they are the fun part.

neuroCORE measures the electrical activity running along the spine. It shows us how much nerve energy is firing and whether it is balanced from side to side.

neuroTHERMAL reads the heat pattern down the spine. That pattern is run by the automatic nerves, the ones quietly controlling organs and glands without you ever thinking about it.

neuroPULSE looks at the rhythm of the heartbeat. This is the one that shows us the gas pedal and the brake, meaning how well the body can rev up and then settle back down.

Those three combine into one number from zero to one hundred, called a CORESCORE. We take it on day one. We take it again later on in your plan. That second scan is the honest part. It either moved or it did not, and either way we sit down and tell you plainly.

We don’t guess. We test, adjust, and retest.

Between visits in Petaluma, Penngrove, and Cotati

Your next visit is a few days out. Life fills that gap. School drop off in Petaluma, practice over in Rohnert Park, a grocery run in Cotati, a long night in Penngrove with a kid who will not settle.

That is the real world, and your nervous system carries all of it. That is not something to feel bad about. It is simply the load. Our job is to keep checking the wiring while you go live your life across the North Bay.

Is this you?

You brought your child in, you drove home, and you are honestly not sure what you are supposed to be looking for. That is a very normal place to be, and it is a good question to say out loud.

Bring it with you to the next visit, or call us before then. You can schedule a visit here or reach the office here. We would much rather answer it than have you sit at home wondering.

Your body is not fragile. It is built to adapt, the way a redwood adds a ring every single year, whether the season was easy or hard. Our job is to make sure the signal getting through is clean, and then to check it again.

Strong. Clear. Unshakable. Built like a Titan.
